SLI Ukrainian Internship

Students who will learn Ukrainian in the summer of 2023 at SLI's 6-week domestic program in Intensive Beginning Ukrainian are eligible to apply to participate in an internship opportunity focused on service activities or Ukrainian cultural heritage. Internships are arranged individually in consultation between the prospective intern, SLI faculty, and site coordinators at service and cultural organizations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Internships will take place on site at the host organization's place of business, though in certain circumstances remote participation may be possible.

The internship will commence after the conclusion of the 6-week program in Beginning Ukrainian with an earliest start date of July 17, 2023. The maximum duration is 4 weeks with a latest ending date of August 11, 2023.

Interns will enroll to earn between 1-3 college credits for successful completion of the internship requirements. Each credit earned represents 40 hours of work on site at the host organization. Interns are also required to produce an academic assignment (such as a topical paper, journal, or portfolio) that is commensurate with the credits earned and under the supervision of their SLI-assigned faculty sponsor.

The matching of interns with host organizations, site coordinators, faculty sponsors will take place in advance of the June 5th start date of the SLI Intensive Beginning Ukrainian program. Interns, site coordinators, and faculty sponsors will sign a learning agreement detailing the scope and expectations for their on-site work and academic assignment prior to the start of the internship.
